Use the official jail search for current custody research. Contact the Records Division for incident reports, local background checks and other Sheriff-held material; separately identify custody for investigative files, body-camera video, dispatch audio, CAD and evidence records.
Use Just One Look for eligible electronically imaged trial-court records. For copies, submit the official Records Request Form for each party with payment by mail or in person to the correct Family or District Court division.
Use the Assessor's appraisal-and-assessment search for ownership and valuation research, county GIS for mapping and the Collector portal for tax-payment status. Route assessment, appraisal, mapping and equalization records to Tax Assessor Cliff Mann; route collections, delinquencies, liens and payment records to Tax Collector Valerie Miles.
Search the Board page for meeting notices and official minutes first. Contact the Superintendent's Office or chief of staff for agendas, policies, finance, contracts, procurement, personnel records and aggregate student data not posted online; ask for the designated records custodian.
Route municipal records to Huntsville, Madison, Gurley, New Hope, Owens Cross Roads or Triana. Use Huntsville's exclusive online records form for citywide requests and Madison's official request portal; verify clerk, police, court, utility and board procedures separately in the four smaller municipalities.
Contact the Board of Registrars for voter-registration and voter-roll records, Probate Judge Frank Barger for county election administration and Circuit Clerk Debra Kizer for absentee-election records.
Contact the joint Huntsville-Madison County EMA for plans, hazard mitigation, alerts and disaster records. Route E911-board, CAD, call audio, addressing and dispatch records to the applicable emergency communications district, PSAP or originating police, Sheriff, fire or medical agency according to custody.
Contact Coroner Dr. Tyler H. Berryhill for eligible death-investigation records and confirm the written report process. Obtain certified birth, death, marriage and divorce certificates from the Madison County Health Department or Alabama Vital Records; request state forensic autopsy records from the Department of Forensic Sciences when applicable.
Contact District Attorney Rob Broussard's office for prosecution-office administrative records and eligible closed-case material. Court-file copies belong with the Circuit Clerk, while police reports and investigative evidence may remain with the originating law-enforcement agency.
