About the project

A public-service desk for practical records access

Alabama Open Records Desk is a public-service project of The Cullman Tribune built to make government records routes easier to find and maintain.

What it does

The desk indexes public-records contacts, forms, portals and filing notes across all 67 counties plus selected state and federal offices.

Verification standard

Candidate links enter a private queue, receive a fresh recorded link check and require editorial approval. Approval creates a draft change; a validated release publishes it with an audit trail. Missing information stays visibly marked as pending.

Contributor standard

Reporter access requires current Alabama Press Association or Alabama Broadcasters Association credentials plus identity confirmation. Membership and identity documents are reviewed before account access is activated.

What it does not do

The desk does not give legal advice, guarantee that an office will release a record, automatically send a request or conceal uncertainty in the underlying source data.

Ownership

Alabama Open Records Desk is a public-service project of The Cullman Tribune. News organizations maintain separate profiles with one accountable organization administrator.
