The policy requires the requester to submit the request and proof of Alabama residency in person at the Commission office; it states unsolicited email or electronic requests will not receive a response.

The Sheriff's FAQ says a person may obtain a copy of an incident or offense report they filed at the Sheriff's Office during normal business hours; contact the office to confirm procedures for other reports, jail records and audiovisual material.
Use the county-authorized Probate Records portal for available records. Contact Probate for recorded instruments or probate files unavailable online, certified copies and current fees.
Use AlaCourt ACCESS for eligible state trial-court information or contact the Circuit Clerk for inspection, copies and certifications.
Use the Revenue Commission website and its Cherokee County Maps link for available assessment, collection and parcel information. Contact Revenue for certified copies, bulk data or records unavailable online.
Contact the Cherokee County, Alabama, Board of Education central office for agendas, minutes, policies and other unposted records, and confirm the designated public-records officer.
Contact the clerk for Cedar Bluff, Centre, Gaylesville, Leesburg or Sand Rock, depending on which municipality holds the record. Confirm separate police, court, utility, school and authority custodians.
